Kidero bans motorcycles from Nairobi CBD
09 November 2015, 14:29
Nairobi - Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has banned the use of motorcycles in the Nairobi Central Business District henceforth.
The Governor in a statement through the County Transport Office stated that the move was necessary to stop the increased numbers of accidents within the CBD.
The ban will only affect passenger motorcycles with the ones ferrying goods exempted.
The ban will likely make way for protests seeing as it is a source of livelihood for many and has been an easier and cheaper mode of transport for those making their way within the usually jam packed CBD.
The ban is part of a plan to de-congest the CBD, with trailers and heavy commercial vehicles having already been banned.
