Khaniri: Protests against IEBC unstoppable
06 June 2016, 15:49
Nairobi - Vihiga Senator George Khaniri has said demonstrations against Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission are unstoppable.
Khaniri said leaders across the country have shown dissatisfaction with IEBC, thus the need for frequent demos against them if the government doesn’t want to relieve them.
“IEBC has shown its incompetence already and we don’t need to prove it any further. We will continue demonstrating against them until when they move out of their offices,” he said.
He noted police restrictions will not deter them from going to Anniversary Towers and urging the officers to vacate office.
“The president is adamant to sack the officers. So what is the next move apart from going to the streets in protest?” he posed.
He urged members of parliament to join in the demonstrations in large numbers so as to emphasize the need for the officers being sacked.
He said regardless of the force used by the police in chasing demonstrators from streets, they can’t kill their determination.
