Khalwale not invited to Uhuru Kakamega function

Nairobi - Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale says that he has not been invited to President Uhuru Kenyatta's visit to his home County.
Khalwale, who is a part of the opposition CORD coalition told News24 that he had not been invited by organizers of the event, led by Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa.
" I have not been invited so I will not show up," he said Friday evening.
" The event can go on but I urge the President to avoid speaking politics and stick to the development agenda he has announced he will bring over," he added.
It is expected that there will be no CORD leaders at the event, with Wamalwa and other senior leaders choosing to kick out the likes of Khalwale from the region.
Kakamega and Bungoma Governors Wycliffe Oparanya and Kenneth Lusaka have been involved in the preparations and will attend the talks and rallies in their Counties.
It being a predominantly CORD region, it will be interesting to see how the reaction will be to having none of their leaders in the line-up.
The visit by the President which kicks off Saturday afternoon will take Uhuru to Kakamega, Bungoma, Kisumu, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot counties.
In Bungoma, President Kenyatta will open the Lwakhakha border point before issuing Kibabii University its charter.
" He will then meet leaders from the region for dinner at the Kakamega State Lodge. The opening of the border post – a crossing point to Uganda, re-emphasises Kenya’s commitment to the free movement of goods, services and people throughout the East African region," a statement from State House said.
