Kenya Airways adjusts flights ahead of Pope's visit

24 November 2015, 18:19 Victor Tinto

Nairobi - National carrier Kenya Airways has adjusted flight timings ahead of the visit to the country by Pope Francis.

The Pope will be expected in the country Wednesday as he begins the first leg of his African tour in Kenya.

His arrival Wednesday will prompt the closure of several roads in the capital city Nairobi during his stay, a move that has forced the national carrier to shift the timings for flights.

The carrier said in a statement that it will move a total of five flights to allow room for them to proceed as close to the time they were meant to as possible.

" The move has been necessitated thanks to the visit by the Pope which begins Wednesday," it said.

The routes affected are Flight KQ 706 to Harare Zimbabwe Wednesday night which has been delayed by 30 minutes.

Flight KQ 484 will depart for Nairobi 10 minutes early, with flights KQ 414/415 and KQ 670/671 being delayed by 30 and 20 minutes respectively. They both operate the Nairobi- Entebbe and Nairobi-Kisumu route.

On Friday with the Pope departing, flight KQ 412/413 to Entebbe will be delayed by 10 minutes.

There will be no disruptions Thursday even though major roads in the city will be closed as a result of the visit.
