KDF officer found murdered under mysterious circumstances

Nairobi - A military officer in the rank of Major attached to Lanet Barracks in Nakuru was on Wednesday morning found murdered in Kiamunyi Estate.
The Major Ben Sabaya ole Sololo was on leave from Somalia where Kenya Defense Force (KDF) under Amisom are on peace keeping mission fighting of terror group Al shaabab.
His body according to area Chief Wilson Maraga was found dumped in a manhole at Zaburi trading centre along Nakuru-Kabarak road.
“It is unfortunate and mysterious murder incident of a senior Military officer who was on leave from Somalia.” Maraga said.
Confirming the incident the chief said that the cause of death was unknown and assailants still at large.
“We cannot speculate on the cause of his death for now as the investigation will unearth the puzzle. His body had no external injuries.” He added.
According to family members and relative, the deceased left home at 7.30pm last night but did not return.
They mourned their loved one as a good man who mingled with people freely.
Neighbours led by Moses Rono decried the death of a man who he termed brought respect to the country for fighting in Somalia in bid to restore peace and security.
“It is a very unfortunate incident to see a senior military man murdered in cold blood by unknown assailants whose motives were unknown.
“Security should be beefed up to stop such crimes and also thorough investigations should be conducted to bring the culprits to the book.” He said.
Family members identified the body before police carried it away to nakuru county government mortuary.
His body had no injuries although there were blood spots inside the manhole his body was found in.Police have launched investigations into the incident.
