KANU ready to receive URP defectors

24 December 2015, 12:10 Jackson Okata

Nairobi - The Independence party KANU has said it is ready to receive members who defect from deputy President's URP party.

Party secretary general Nick Salat said that KANU has its doors open to those who will not join the new Jubilee party after the dissolution of URP.

Speaking Wednesday at Rongai constituency, Salat said they have started receiving grassroot leaders who are defecting from URP.

"We have already started receiving people from the grassroot who are decamping back to KANU and we are still expecting more and more as we approach 2017. KANU is wiling to receive and take everyone who will be opharned politically by the dissolution of URP," he said.

Salat advised Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto against forming a new party but instead invited him to join KANU.

"I want to ask my brother Governor Rutto to come back home instead of going to rent a house elsewhere; we have a place for him in KANU," he said.

He warned that deputy President William Ruto will regret dissolving his own party to join a 'foreign' party.
