KANU has not joined CORD, Salat says

Nairobi - The Kenya African National Union (KANU) Secretary General, Nick Salat has denied claims that the independent party has joined the Cord coalition.
Speaking in Bomet, Salat said that KANU only joined the Cord coalition during the demonstrations against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries commission (IEBC) and will not form any coalition with the opposition.
“Am in KANU and we are not joining Cord coalition. We only joined them to demonstrate against the IEBC after they stole my victory in the 2013 general elections,” he said.
Salat faced a rough time addressing the residents of Bomet County who accused him of joining hands with the opposition to frustrate the Jubilee government.
Salat contested the Bomet Senatorial election in the 2013 general elections and lost to Senator Wilfred Lesan of the United Republican party (URP).
He went to the High Court to challenge the results claiming that IEBC robbed him of the victory but the court dismissed his petition for lack of evidence.
