Nairobi - Kalonzo Musyoka is on the verge of leaving CORD for Jubilee, an MP has said.
The former Vice President has been linked with a move to the ruling Jubilee Coalition for a number of weeks now, with his future in the opposition in doubt following a series of incidences.
A number of key leaders in his Ukambani backyard have already started negotiations with Jubilee and Kalonzo is said to be considering his future in the opposition fearing that he will lose all the support form his region if he stays in CORD.
An MP from the region who was recently at State House Nairobi for talks with the President stated that Kalonzo's hand was being swayed.
" Kalonzo will leave CORD. The people of the region are not willing to remain in the opposition which has lost its way," the MP from Kitui County who wished not to be named told News24.
He stated that the CORD co principal had realized he was being overtaken in his own backyard and was now under pressure to shift goalposts.
" Kalonzo knows he is in the losing coalition at the moment and must seek to move away," he added.
Kalonzo has thus far denied that he is planning to quit CORD but with more and more Ukambani leaders shifting allegiance, his hand might be forced.
