Kalenjin leaders fault President Kenyatta's Cabinet shake-up

Nairobi - Two leaders from the Kalenjin community have faulted the appointments of Cabinet and Principal Secretaries made on Tuesday by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The leaders, Marakwet East MP Bowen Kangogo and West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo Wednesday said the appointments only favoured the big sub-groups of the Kalenjin community and left others.
“Am surprised that out of 62 Appointment there is no single Marakwet! A community who voted 98 % for this government are now destitutes and full of regrets. As a community we feel cheated, used and dumped,” Kangongo posted on his Facebook page.
“While other Kalenjin communities are celebrating two, three to four appointments, Marakwets are left weeping and lamenting. We may be ignored as a miscellaneous vote but we voted for them and we have a right. People you are not alone, I will stand with you,” noted the legislator.
The West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo echoed Kangongo’s sentiments, terming the new state appointment as not inclusive.
“I agree with Hon Kangogo Bowen. We now have 47 distinct Counties. Jubilee leaders ought to have consulted the county leaders in identifying persons who can well propel the interest of their counties, and hence the entire Country, to greater heights of development,” he said.
“ This is especially so for Counties that voted for the ruling National Government of the day. Depending on a few sycophants to represent interests of Communities/Counties, can only make communities conclude that they are being isolated or assumed,” he said.
