Just don't let Whatsapp chats replace calls

Nairobi - Anne Mutinda A female friend is yet to speak to her boyfriend for the second week now for mere miscommunication on Whatsapp.
He studies in a university which does not condone student absenteeism in church services on Fridays, the day she wanted to visit him for the first time.
They had a chat and he insisted she could only be safe to arrive at around 7pm since he could be available at the time to receive her.
But my friend questioned the timing doubting his plans. For her,he did not want neighbours to see her.
And she concluded there was someone else. She never bothered to call to clearly understand his position.
On the actual day, the boyfriend called at around 6pm probably to find out whether she was on the way.
But she never picked, never called back.
She is just convinced he is cheating on her from the mood of the Whatsapp chats.
Often,people misunderstand short messages.
It is very common especially when someone writes in short sentences or is not good with explaining things in very many words.
There the message is misinterpreted and the meaning gets lost. At this point,a call is very important.
In a one on one conversation, issues are clarified to the satisfaction of the other.
For instance,it could have been easy for her to have a full picture of his suggestion and perhaps agree on her arrival rather than making linear conclusions.
In a conflicting matter,a call is an advisable means of communication since you can ask a direct question should there be a misunderstanding and get a clear answer.
Just don't let Whatsapp be your main medium of communication.
It can cause confusion and heartbreaks easily avoidable with a call. Ends
