Jubilee party image dented, as supporters exchange blows in Nairobi

06 August 2016, 15:06 Samuel Arap Yego

Nairobi - The perceived squeaky clean image of   President Uhuru Kenyatta’s party  has been  soiled after  Jubilee supporters in Nairobi exchanged blows.

A meeting convened Friday by the party leadership at Ufungamano House in Nairobi to receive defectors from opposition ended prematurely after a group of youths turned chaotic and engaged in a brawl.

Trouble started shortly after Jubilee party steering committee co-chairman Noah Wekesa arrived at the meeting to receive the defectors. As he received the group, a section of the crown engaged in a shouting match.

They complained bitterly  that the party was receiving new members and ignoring those who had been members all along.  This is when hell broke loose and it became a free for all, as some of the youths started kicking tables and chairs.

Wekesa was whisked away to safety as the meeting came to an end unexpectedly .
