Jubilee MP wants law to have Uhuru appoint Governors

Nairobi - A Jubilee Coalition MP is seeking a law to have President Uhuru Kenyatta appoint Governors.
Murang'a women representative Sabina Chege says that the new law which she wants formulated will stop Governor's from wasting tax payers money and also kill the notion that they are small gods.
She added that the move will also stop corruption and under-performance as the President can hire and fire the County bosses.
" The County chiefs answer to no one which is very dangerous. The President must be the one they answer to since he is the head of state," she said.
She added that the move to have the County bosses answerable to the executive would take time to formulate and that she would seek legal advice over it.
" There will need to be time but I am confident that Kenyans will love and accept it," she told News24 in a phone interview.
County governments have been accused of misusing public funds in the past, with the President also adding his voice to the conversation by saying there must be more accountability.
