Jubilee MP uses 80,000 to celebrate Waiguru’s sacking

25 November 2015, 15:41 Joseph Njung'eh

Nairobi - A Nyeri MP is on the spot for reportedly using KES 80,000 at a pub to celebrate the discharge of former Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary, Anne Waiguru.

The MP was allegedly buying alcohol for young men at pubs in Narumoru, township.

A group of youths has, however, condemned the MP saying that he was promoting alcoholism and use of second generation brews in the area.

“He was moving from one pub to another buying alcohol for the youth. He is abusing youths. He was saying that the alcohol is in celebration that Waiguru is no longer in the Cabinet,” said Ngángá Muiruri a youth leader.

Muiruri, however, stated that many young men and women from Kieni East sub-county were beneficiaries of National Youth Service youth empowerment program which has since stopped.

“Many youths who were initially alcoholics got jobs at NYS program and reformed. We benefited a lot with Waiguru’s leadership in Devolution Ministry. We are sad that the MP can be celebrating downfall of Waiguru,”added Muiruri.

Another leader, Zacharia Maina Kihenjo alleged that the politician has been in the frontline to fight government and to oppose President Uhuru Kenyatta’s appointees in various dockets.

“His development record is very low. He should declare his political stand because we only see him opposing the government and President Uhuru’s appointees. We don’t want talks but performance,” said Kihenjo.
