Jubilee MP describes the ideal Chief Justice appointee

Nairobi - The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has been urged to select a credible, honest and hardworking person to fill the Chief Justice position.
Kieni MP Kanini Kega observed that Judiciary needs a person who will iron out wrangles that have been emerging between the three arms of government.
“In the past, we have seen courts overturning decisions made by the Legislative arm and the Executive. Kenya needs a CJ who will ensure there is no conflict between the Arms of government,” said Kega.
He asked the Judiciary to stick to its mandate and urged the incoming CJ to deal with case backlogs adding that courts should not entertain frivolous cases.
“For instance, there is a Governor who was constitutionally impeached by Senate and County Assembly but is still in office courtesy of the courts,” said Kega as he called for total reforms.

Speaking after a special church service at Kiriti AIPCA Church in Tetu, the MP also accused the Judiciary of shielding public officers who have embezzled public funds.
He was accompanied by Athi Water Services Board Chairman Wachira Maina Keen and businessman Kinaniri Warui.
On his part, Keen accused the Nyeri County Government of perpetrating looting and misappropriation of public resources.
He said the County had not realized development since devolution due to mismanagement.
