Jubilee has succeeded in ruining CORD, says ODM official

Nairobi - The Jubilee coalition has succeeded in its quest to cause confusion and ruin the CORD coalition before the 2017 general elections, a top ODM official in Nakuru County has said.
The official who sought anonymity said that the CORD is in darkness now as more and more members announce their defections from affiliate parties.
He added that CORD has found itself between a rock and a hard place in fighting Jubilee and at the same time stemming defections.
Speaking Sunday in Nakuru town, the official said that CORD lacks a strategy to counter the defections which he said are weakening the coalition.
"Each day we are hearing of people defecting from CORD and not from the other side and this is worrying. Jubilee seems to have achieved its aim of weakening the CORD coalition by ensuring that as many members defect ahead of 2017," he said.

"The truth is that the defections are weakening the coalition but the sad thing is that CORD lacks a strategy of countering the defections and if nothing is done then CORD will just remain a shell of itself by the time we go to the polls," he added.
ODM and the Wiper party which are affiliate parties of the CORD coalition continue to face defections from members who have pledged allegiance to either Jubilee coalition or other political parties.
Sirisia member of Parliament John Waluke was the latest to announce his defection from the CORD coalition by resigning as the ODM Bungoma chairman and announcing that he will be seeking re-election on a different party.
