Nairobi - A top CORD leader have slammed the Jubilee government for neglecting parts of the Rift Valley and ensuring the residents of the region remain poor.
Cord co- Principal Kalonzo Musyoka said although the ruling coalition received immense support in the North Rift in the last election, the government has not initiated any key projects in the area.
Speaking to journalists, Kalonzo pointed out that the Kitale-Lodwar-Road remains in a bad state, despite President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto pledging during campaigns that it will be repaired.
" The Kitale- Lodwar road is a key artery linking Kenya to South Sudan. It is shocking that it is in a sorry state even after promises were given that it will be worked on. The road from Eldoret to Kitale is full of potholes, what is the priority of Jubilee government?" posed the Wiper party leader.
Kalonzo who spoke in Taito Village during the funeral service of the late Jenepher Masis, a long time politician and women rights activist, asked the regions residents to reconsider their political alignment in 2017, noting that Jubilee has no priority for their welfare.
"With North Rift being the grain basket of the country, there is no reason for the government to neglect the key road linking Uasin Gishu, Trans-Nzoia, West Pokot and Turkana Counties. The government has failed the residents of North Rift," he said.
