Nakuru - KANU secretary general, Nick Salat has claimed that Central Kenya is grooming former Gatanga MP, Peter Kenneth to be its presidential candidate in 2022.
Salat said that Kenneth is being secretly prepared to take over the reins of power from President Uhuru Kenyatta when he completes his second term in office.
Salat said that the region will not allow deputy President William Ruto to be the Jubilee party’s presidential candidate in 2022.
Speaking Wednesday in Nakuru town, Salat said that Central Kenya will insist on having the Jubilee party hold nominations for its presidential candidate in 2022.

“The plan is to have Peter Kenneth to run against Ruto in the party nominations and that is where they will edge him out of the race,” said Salat.
He added: “They will not give Ruto a direct nomination and that is a fact that Ruto should know before it’s too late.”
Salat added that KANU chairman, Gideon Moi will be ready to take on Kenneth in the 2022 general election as the official Rift valley candidate.
“Gideon will be there to battle it out with Kenneth and represent the people of Rift valley, and the journey has started already,” he said.
