Nairobi - Joining the Jubilee Coalition is a mistake, a Rift Valley leader has told the Kalenjin community.
According to KANU Secretary Nick Salat, the community has to leave the Jubilee Party as they will be shortchanged come the 2022 General Elections.
Salat says that the Jubilee Party is a vehicle for President Uhuru Kenyatta to gain re-election come the 2017 polls and says that in 2022, the Kikuyu community will not support DP William Ruto for the Presidency.
According to the outspoken Salat, the Jubilee Party will fail Kalenjins and that they must chart their own path in 2017.
" Their story is that the Party will support the DP in 2022. Who believes that story?," he told News24.
He urged Kalenjins to ensure that they are not duped by the Jubilee fanfare.
" The Jubilee Party is out to kill democracy. In 2013, KANU supported them while intact as did other parties. Why do they want to kill them? What are they not telling us," he added.
Salat says that KANU will look for a party to work with come 2017 and that it will be stronger than ever come election time.
" KANU is looking for parties to work with. The ones that share a vision similar to us. We will be together," he added.
