Mombasa - Charles Mbugwa Kanyi, known for his hit song ‘Kioo’ and ‘Kipepeo’ has come to bail out Congolese Rhumba maestro, General Defao after he was detained for failing to pay KES 20,000 bill at a villa in Nyali, Mombasa.
Jaguar said that it was shameful for such a legend to be detained because of greedy promoters.
Jaguar said that he learnt about the unfortunate incident through the media and could not watch the 58-year-old legend detained at the ‘Ricks side’ villa in Nyali Mombasa following poor cooperation between the promoters, Bobs club and the Rhumba legend.
“This is truly shameful to the country's music industry. How will such a legend nurture young artists and entertain our own people if we shame them to such an extend?” said Jaguar.

He said that such a legend should be treated with dignity and respect and further blamed the promoters for tarnishing the entertainment industry in the country.
“It is through such promoters that our music industry is heading to the dogs; they should stop such greed and behave well to protect the entertainment sector."
He personally apologized to Matumona Defau Lulendo famously known as General Defao on Saturday.
General Defao failed to pay KES 20,000 for food and accommodation at the villa for one week after promoters who planned the Rhumba concert at the Bob’s Club in Bamburi vanished.
Defao was released on Saturday evening after Jaguar’s intervention.
Jaguar thanked the media for highlighting such an unfortunate incident which prompted him to act immediately.
