Jacob Juma to be buried with a knife and torch in his hands

12 May 2016, 09:37 Philomena Chebet

Nairobi - Slain controversial businessman Jacob Juma who was shot dead last week will be buried with a knife and torch in his hand.

His family Wednesday said the deceased flamboyant businessman who was gunned down by unknown assailants will be laid to rest over the weekend with the two items so that he can avenge his death.

According to Luhya traditionals, when a person is interred with a knife and torch, he will use the items to look for his killers and murder them.

“Elders from our Batura clan will do customary funeral rites to avenge the death of Juma. He will go for his killers himself after the burial,” Gerishom Juma, brother of the deceased told journalists at his home.

Juma’s burial at his home in Mungore Village, Bungoma County is expected to generate a lot of political heat, with area Senator Moses Wetang’ula already promising to make public the names of alleged killers of the businessman.

Juma before his death was a bitter critic of the Jubilee government and close ally of Cord leader Raila Odinga.
