Investigate Mutunga too, Jubilee leaders say

Nairobi - Jubilee Coalition leaders are calling for Chief Justice Willy Mutunga to be investigated over the bribery scandal facing the Supreme Court.
Mutunga's tenure has been dented with the latest allegations of bribery against Justice Philip Tunoi which saw him accused of taking a KES 200 million bribe to rule in favour of Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero in an election petition.
Tunoi will face a public tribunal over the matter.
But in their argument, Jubilee leaders say that all 7 judges who ruled in the Kidero case should be subjected to investigations as it was not only Tunoi who ruled in the case.
Mutunga was one of the 7 who made the ruling.
" The fact that there are such serious allegations means that Tunoi probably did not act alone. There must have been others too because it was a 7 judge bench," Starehe MP Maina Kamanda said.
On his part, Garissa Town MP and Majority Leader Aden Duale said that there was no grounds for investigating Tunoi alone while others too made the ruling.
He pointed out that only Justice Njoki Ndung'u had a differing opinion on the ruling.
" Something must be said. Tunoi should reveal who else took a bribe. This is a shameful incident which must be probed and all bad elements kicked out," he added.
Tunoi has so far insisted that he is innocent and that he is looking forward to the tribunal where he will defend his honour and reputation of his family.
