Introduction of IPPG will bring sanity in the IEBC

06 August 2016, 13:18 Wasike Elvis

Nairobi - Introduction of IPPG will bring Sanity in IEBC says Bii Uasin Gishu county.

Kenya National African Union (KANU) Rift Valley coordinator Jonathan Bii has called for the re- Introduction of Inter Parties Parliamentary Group(IPPG) to bring sanity in the electoral body .

He said, this will restore confidence in the electoral process that has always been mapped with irregularities. " We want every party to nominate a member who will be appointed as a commissioner in the IEBC" he said.

Speaking to journalists in Eldoret on Friday Bii said, by doing so IEBC will conduct elections in a free and fair manner since every party will be represented.

"I urge the National Assembly to pass legislations that will bring back the IPPG Committee since its the solution to the IEBC row"he said.

He however said, the debate on the ability if IEBC to handle the 2017 elections should be dealt with in a sobber way since it might propagate violence.

"Wreckkess talk by politicians about IEBC may lead to Kenyans not having faith in the electoral body, which may lead them to reject the election results leading to war.

He however congratulated the IEBC commissioners for accepting to leave office voluntarily saying it will pave way for a more competent and transparent Commission.
