Nairobi - Infidelity is ripe in the Kenyan police force and is leading to many family breakups in the force.
During the ongoing vetting of traffic police officers in the rift valley, the national police service vetting board has been told that poor housing and living conditions are to be blamed for the promiscuity and infidelity being witnessed among police officers.
Majority of the officers who appeared before the vetting lamented on how married police officers are forced to share tiny rooms something they said has caused many of them to stay from their marriages.
“There is a lot of promiscuity among officers and this is caused by the poor housing conditions because married people are forced to share a single room,” said one officer
The police officers called upon the national police service commission to seriously look into the issue of housing especially for low cadre police officers.
NPSC chairman Jonhstone Kavuludi acknowledged the housing challenges that exist within the police service and prom, missed that his commission was working closely with the government to have the issue resolved.
