Kampala - Incumbent presidential candidate, Yoweri Museveni has received a boost from all his party members who failed to go through primaries and decided to stand as independent candidates in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
The over 250 independent parliamentary candidates have all resolved to support Museveni in his bid for presidency.
''The independents in Kampala have come out to pledge their full support for the NRM presidential candidate in the coming elections under the umbrella group dubbed SAUTI YA WANANCHI,'' said their spokesman Abbas Mbada.
On launching the group that is to canvas for votes especially in Kampala, the party national vice chairperson for eastern Uganda honourable captain Mike Mukula tasked the group to reach out to the grass root voters for support if the party is to garner extra support from Kampala where it has suffered huge losses in the past election.
''You should tirelessly work to get all he people in Kampala to vote for our candidate,'' said Mukula.
However, the group chairperson, Moses Muhangi decried the continued segregation of all independent candidates by the officials at the party secretariat whom he says see them as opposition members to the party.
He maintained that the group will not engage in fights with the secretariat but instead lobby for the party support in the whole country.
