Imams ask CORD to suspend anti IEBC demos during Ramadhan

Nairobi - The Council of Imams and preachers CIPK Mombasa branch has urged CORD leaders to suspend the anti IEBC campaigns during the Holy month of Ramadhan.
Speaking to journalist on Thursday, the Imams lead by CIPK organizing secretary Sheikh Mohammed Khalifa argued chaos caused by Cord supporters in protest against IEBC may disrupt faith of the Muslim believers.
‘’Whether they will hold a meeting with the Government to find ways of resolving IEBC issues or not, what we request from Cord is a peaceful time during the Holy month of Ramadhan,’’ stated Khalifa.
So far the Anti IEBC demo has claimed three lives with several people nursing injuries.
The Imams however thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for having waived tax on dates as Ramadhan approaches.
The Holy month of Ramadhan is expected to commence next week.
