I'm ready to work with Jubilee, ODM Governor tells Uhuru

03 September 2016, 10:08 William Korir

Nairobi - I'm ready to work with the Jubilee Coalition, an ODM Governor has said.

Kilifi Governor Jefa Amason Kingi says that he is ready to join in on the fun of working with the national government to help improve the lives of his people.

In a rejoinder to News24 after President Uhuru Kenyatta asked him to work with government, he stated that despite his political affiliations, he was ready to join hands with Jubilee to develop the country.

"I am ready to work with the government on developing Kilifi County further,"he told News24.

"The fact is that I am not a Jubilee member but development is something we deserve as Kenyans and that does not mean I will leave my current party, but I will foster closer ties with the national government,"he added.

He said that as usual, he would be a CORD member come the 2017 polls.

"I am in CORD to stay. It does not mean that now all of a sudden I have joined Jubilee. No. I am happy in ODM and am here to stay,"he added.

President Kenyatta had earlier said if the Governor had made such a resolve three years ago, the county would be far in terms of development. Mr Ruto asked the region to join the Jubilee Party, which would serve to unite the people.

Kingi was not too amused by the statement as he feels that development is not a favour but rather a must for the nation.

"Development is not a favour accorded by the government but rather a right for all Kenyans,"he completed.
