Nairobi - An MP has told CORD co principal Kalonzo Musyoka that he is ready to return to the ballot to defend his seat after defecting to the Jubilee Party.
Joe Munuve, MP for Mwingi North defected to the Jubilee Party three weeks ago.
He was elected on a Wiper Party ticket under the CORD Coalition and in the event his parent party is willing to discipline him, he might face a by election under the law.
But Munuve is not a worried man.
" I am ready to go back to the people and seek a fresh mandate. They elected me in 2013 and I am confident they will do again if called to," he told News24.
He stated that he had spoken to his supporters about the move to Jubilee and that he had their full support.
" The decision was not Munuve's. It was the people's decision," he added.
Munuve was among 5 MPs from Wiper who have joined the Jubilee Party.
The others are Joe Mutambu (Mwingi Central), Regina Ndambuki (Kilome), Kisoi Munyao (Mbooni) and Richard Makenga (Kaiti).
