Nairobi - Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho says he will defeat DP William Ruto in the 2022 General Elections.
Joho says that the people of the Coast region also deserve to have a President just like the Central Kenya and Rift Valley regions.
He says that the country deserves leadership from another region to right the wrongs of previous regimes.
Speaking to News24 to confirm comments he made at the Coast over the weekend, Joho says that the leadership in the country can and should change.
" The country deserves leadership from a different region. We have seen what others can do. Ruto can stay aside and let another leader take charge," he said.
" The country has been ruled by two regions. Let others try their hand too," he added.
Joho stated that the people of the Coast region would have a say as regards future presidencies thanks to increased voter registration and awareness.
" The people want change and in the recent elections here in Malindi we showed that," he added.
Joho, in throwing his hat follows Ruto as the second politician to declare intentions on the Presidency come the year 2022.
