Nairobi - The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commision IEBC made a sensible decision in choosing not to punish CORD leader Moses Wetangula, he has said.
The IEBC chose not to remove the Bungoma Senator from the voters list Tuesday for voter bribery, saying that there was no justifiable reason to do so.
This is despite Wetangula being found guilty of the offence by both the High and Supreme Courts.
After the ruling confirming his release Monday, the CORD leader thanked the IEBC for taking a responsible decision.
" I am happy that the IEBC has looked through its facts and seen that I have done nothing wrong and in the process released me," he said outside the Milimani Law Courts.
" It is the responsible decision since there was no legitimate facts showing any wrong doing on my part," he added.

Wetangula risked being locked out of electoral politics for upto 10 years but he says he was not afraid of any action.
" The law was on my side. I was not afraid at all. I knew the law backed me," he continued.
Lawyer James Orengo thanked the IEBC for playing their part despite the pressurized circumstances.
" I would like to thank the Committee led by Mr Letangule for playing its role well despite the pressure that was on hand in making the decision," he added.
Wetangula is seeking to run for the Presidency in the 2017 General Elections.
