Isiolo - About eight people have been hospitalized at Merti Sub-county hospital in Isiolo County after eating bad meat during Idd-ul-Adha celebrations.
Among them were two children below five years of age.
The meat, locally referred as known as nyiri nyiri
, was obtained from Garbatulla area by a relative of the victims.
While confirming the incident, the County Police Commander Charles Ontita said the meat could have been poorly handled or preserved before consumption.
He said the victims started by complaining of severe vomiting, headaches and stomachaches, adding that they were in stable condition and responding positively to medication.
He warned residents against consuming uninspected meat to avoid such occurrences.
