I won’t retire until I reclaim my title from France, Vows Kemboi

19 August 2016, 08:11 Kiplangat Langat

Nairobi - Olympic 3000m steeplechase champion, Ezekiel Kemboi has rescinded his decision to retire saying he must first reclaim his medal.

In his Facebook page, Kemboi said that he changed his mind after he was stripped off the bronze medal that he won Wednesday in the ongoing Rio Olympics.

“I had opted to retire right after the Olympics only if I had come home with this medal…now I feel that I have to bring back this medal not by protesting again but right on the track,” he posted.

Kemboi said that he will compete in the London 2017 games so that he can reclaim his medal.

“I will be going to London 2017 to reclaim my medal from France. No limits,” he said.

Kemboi on Wednesday won bronze in the ongoing Rio Olympics only to be disqualified following protests from the French athlete.
