I won't resign over killings, CS Nkaiserry tells Raila

12 July 2016, 12:13 Samuel Arap Yego

Nairobi - Interior Cabinet Secretary, Joseph Nkaissery has vowed not to bow to pressure and resign over the rising cases of extra-judicial killings.

The CS instead cautioned Coalitions for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader Raila Odinga against calling for his ouster noting that he is inciting the public.

Raila has been calling for the security chief to leave office, after a lawyer and two others were recently killed by police officers.

But Nkaissery said no amount of politicizing security issues will make him step aside.

"I cannot go home because some busybody just wants me to resign. I will remain in office until the person who appointed me asks me to step aside," he emphasised.

Nkaissery explained that he has directed the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett to bring to book rogue officers who are giving the force a bad name.
