Wamalwa's interest to vie for the seat is likely to cause jitters within the Jubilee Party.
On Sunday, four Kiambu legislators endorsed Wamalwa for the seat, a move that drew criticism from Nairobi legislators.
Wamalwa will have to battle out with Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, Dagoretti MP Denis Waweru, former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru and nominated MP Johnstone Sakaja.
