Nairobi - I will support President Uhuru Kenyatta and not Raila Odinga come 2017, an ODM MP has announced.
Stephen Kariuki, the Mathare MP who was elected on an ODM ticket says that he has sifted his allegiance to the Jubilee Coalition ahead of the 2017 elections.
Speaking to News24, he says that after a period of soul searching as well as meetings with his constituents, he has decided that Jubilee is the vessel ahead of 2017.
" I will support President Kenyatta in the 2017 elections," he stated.
Asked on whether that meant he will be forced to quit ODM, his answer was rapid.
" If I support Uhuru, then I support Jubilee," he stated.
Kariuki is the son to former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru who is seeking to be Nairobi Governor come the 2017 polls.
She was also formerly in ODM but quit after a run in with party leader Odinga.
