Nairobi - Budalangi MP and Labour Party of Kenya leader Ababu Namwamba has declared that he has no beef with ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
"I respect Raila as I do other leaders. I would ask that we all strive to do the same. Heshima si utumwa (Respect is not slavery)," he said during a date with Busia Political Forum on Monday night.
"I have no personal issues with Rt Hon Amolo Odinga. I quit my SG position in ODM due to irreconcilable differences on how the party is managed, best exemplified by bungled Kasarani elections and deliberate schemes to emasculate the office of the SG.
"May I also add that I have always had a cordial relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta. I believe political rivalry does not and must never amount to enmity. Cordial relations with a rival is not about that mole joke. It is just political maturity," he said.
Regarding his relationship with Deputy President William Ruto, Ababu said he knew the DP long before he joined politics.
"I was in one of the 5 flanks of the Pentagon team headed by Ruto in 2007 election campaigns. It was the most formidable political blitzkrieg I have ever seen in this land. We grew quite close.
"We worked together in ODM, and were colleagues in the 10th parliament and in cabinet where we both served as ministers. I have no apology to make to anybody over my friendship with the DP," he said.
