I have not fallen out with Raila, CORD leader says

Nairobi - Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale says that stories linking him to quitting the CORD Coalition are false.
He further adds that stories stating that he insulted ODM leader Raila Odinga are out to cause mischief and far from the truth.
“All I asked is that Raila does respect the people of Kakamega and let them choose a candidate, without influence from Nairobi,” he said.
“I did not and will not insult him. We are on the same side and I respect him as a leader,” he added.
Rumours have been circulating that Khalwale is on bad terms with Raila because he feels that the CORD leader is backing Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya for the gubernatorial seat ahead of the 2017 polls.
Khalwale says that he will battle for the seat and is confident of winning.
“I will contest for the CORD nomination and I am confident that the people of Kakamega will give me their backing,” he added.
Khalwale will face Oparanya in CORD primaries set for February 2017.
