Nairobi - I will not ditch Jubilee for the opposition Coalition of reforms and Democracy (CORD), Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has said.
The flamboyant Senator Tuesday said contrary to press reports, he is not planning to join the Raila Odinga led Cord coalition any time soon.
Last weekend during the burial of the father of Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, John King’ola in Machakos County, Sonko pledged to support Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s presidential bid if he is made the CORD flag bearer.

“Give Kalonzo Musyoka the CORD presidential ticket and I will jump ship and back him for the top seat. I am ready to ditch Jubilee if Kalonzo is the torch bearer, but short of this, count me out,” he said.
But speaking to journalists Tuesday in Nairobi , Sonko said his comments were taken out of context and he was not being serious.
“I was mocking the Cord leaders present and being sarcastic about their chances of winning the next General Election,” he explained.
Kalonzo and his fellow Cord co-principal Senator Moses Wetang’ula were present at the funeral service, when Sonko made the remarks.
