20 fishermen trapped inside lake Naivasha

Nairobi - 20 fishermen were Tuesday trapped in the middle of Lake Naivasha after their fishing boats got trapped by the hyacinth plant while on a fishing expedition.
Naivasha boat owners chairman Simon Kilo said that the fishermen who were in five boats got trapped at kamere shore after their boats got trapped.
"They were on their way to the middle of the lake when the boats got trapped by hyacinth and they got for rescue. The winds were blowing and it swept the hyacith towards the boats before they got stuck," said Kilo.
It took rescuers over seven hours to rescue the fishermen by first removing the hyacinth.
The emergence of the weed at the lake has hugely affected fishing activities on the lake as it has hampered movement of boats within the lake.
