How to tell whether a product is original or fake using UPC computerized barcode

08 January 2016, 16:58 Biko Rading

Nairobi - As people’s anxiety is rising, it is very important to know what are you buying and what kind of food you feed your dear ones.

Well, know the mother of counterfeits in the world is China though they keep denying it.

The most shocking one that made headlines in 2015 was the plastic rice from China that was being exported to Africa and other developing countries.

The Universal Product Code (UPC) is your best friend when it comes to finding out where your food comes from. See the first three numbers and if the UPC barcode is between 690 and 695, know that the product originates from China.

For those who suffer from various allergies and diseases or just careful to lead a healthy lifestyle, it is important to know where the food comes from.
