How sure are you of what you are looking for in a relationship?

Nairobi - I think I want to be in a relationship but
then again I am not so sure either.
Last week due to a lot of boredom I almost
had something with someone anyone would consider someone I should not be
dealing with. The other day the guy invites me for lunch and I was in and just
by some stroke of… (I do not know whether to refer to it as luck or misfortune)
the boss calls me to go to the office and give him his keys. So the lunch date
I have no idea whether I want a
relationship and what I would like to get from one. I am basically clueless
when it comes to that.
Do you want a relationship because you are
bored, like me or do you want one because you are actually ready? Timing is
everything when it comes to some situations. You might rush off to be with
someone but end up with the wrong person because you were just lonely.
Are you looking for company or do you want
a partnership of sorts? Needing someone to entertain you is what leads to
dependence in relationships and feeling like space and someone else’s freedom
is your right. They will get tired of you because you just cannot be around
someone all the time. We all, need our space. You have to love your own company
before you try sharing yourself with someone else.
Do you want someone to take care of you or
you want to be with them, not need them? There is a clear difference. Being
with somebody because of what they do for you or can do for you is the reason a
lot of people end up being miserable long term with a partner that they did not
want. You get what you want or you stay around waiting, it never happens but by
then you are so deep in sh**, you cannot go back.
To cut a long story short, find out what
you want and then commit. Before then, you will just make yourself miserable.
