Herder who shot former President Mwai Kibaki’s kin released on KES 9 million bond

Nyahururu - An illegal grazer who shot former President Mwai Kibaki’s nephew was Friday released on Sh 9 million bond with a surety of a similar amount.
Mr George Krismas Lenges denied the charges of an attempted robbery with violence before Nyahururu principal Magistrate Mr Peter Ndege.
Mr Lenges was charged that on July 13, this year at Rambora Ranch in Rumuruti area Laikipia County, he and others who were not before court violently attempted to rob Mr John Wachira Mwai of his land cruiser vehicle worth Sh 4.5 million.
The court heard that the complaint who managed his family’s ranch was at his was home when the accused person together with others who were not before court shot at his vehicle.
The court further heard that Mr Mwai sustained serious gunshot wounds on his right shoulder and left thigh and was rushed to Nyahururu county referral hospital and later transferred to Kenyatta hospital.
The accused person was arrested few weeks later after investigations by police officers from Rumuruti police station where he was charged with the offence.
The case will be heard on November 28, this year.
