Nairobi - Detectives were left in awe of the sheer size of former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru's expansive Kitusuru home.
Waiguru's home, in Nairobi's exclusive Kihingo estate in Kitusuru was Tuesday the subject of a raid by Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision EACC detectives over corruption allegations.
The EACC officers arrived at the home as early as 6.30 AM and raided every corner of the expansive house believed to be worth KES 100 million.
Officers, investigating the loss of KES 791 million at the National Youth Service NYS which was under Waiguru's ministry were however left shocked by the huge size of the house and left wondering how a public officer could afford such a lifestyle.
" When you arrive where she lives you can understand why they are asking questions about her," a detective who was at the palatial home and who did not want to be named told News24.
" it is a King's house and the area is very expensive and you have to question what or where she got the money from," the detective added.
Waiguru it is understood, told the detectives that she is servicing a mortgage at the moment to pay the house.
Her lawyer Ahmednassir Abdulahi also confirmed that there were questions asked about the house.
" They asked about it and they were given the documents supporting the house and its payment," he stated.
Waiguru resigned from office last week citing poor health.
