Heavy rain in Nairobi as Kenyans prepare for Papal mass
26 November 2015, 08:28
Nairobi - Nairobi was washed out with heavy rain as Kenyans prepared to celebrate mass with Pope Francis.
The rainy season was expected to take the fore during the visit by the Pope to the country and it did not disappoint, drenching Nairobi to the ground from Wednesday evening.
It continued until way into the morning as Kenyans started milling into the University of Nairobi grounds where the mass would take place.
" The rain will not stop me and my wife," Julius Kateggera who came to Nairobi from Busia in Uganda told News24.
The mass is expected to kick off at 10 AM local time.
The meteorological department had warned that there would be heavy rain during and after the mass and their prediction proved right as Kenyans used all means to protect themselves from the pouring rain.
The dais which the Pope would use for mass could be seen being dried out by female workers and organizers anticipated no problems during the mass.
President Uhuru Kenyatta as well as other leaders are expected at the mass.
