Homa Bay - A 50-year-old granny has been sentenced to life imprisonment after a court found her guilty of murdering her grandchild over sukari-nguru.
Margaret Licha Yogo is said to have conspired with the child’s father Polycarp Onyango to commit the crime on March 27, 2014 at their Ndhiwa home.
The court was told that the granny poured paraffin on the boy, before his father lit him up. The co-accused has since died, leaving the granny to shoulder the blame.
According to the prosecutor, the boy would later die while undergoing treatment at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referral Hospital, in Kisumu.
