Nairobi - A Governor has dumped Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress for the Jubilee Coalition.
Lamu Governor Issa Timamy told News24 on phone that he was seeking development for his people and that staying in the opposition had denied the people of the region that opportunity.
He says that he has informed Mudavadi of his decision and will seek the verdict of his people before finalising the move.
" The people of Lamu don't care about party politics. They speak the language of development and that is what they only want to hear," he said in the phone interview.
He added that he had no hard feelings with anyone at ANC but that it was time for him to make a decision for the sake of his people.
" The truth is that we need to move forward and I will support the Coalition which provides development to the country," he added.
The move is a blow to Mudavadi who is looking to win support all over the country for his 2017 elections bid.
