Government orders ODM to pay for vehicle burnt by supporters

Nairobi - ODM has been ordered to pay for the vehicle that was burnt by its supporters in Nairobi over the weekend.
Government spokesman Eric Kiraithe says that the owner of the vehicle must be helped to get back on their feet and that the party will be held liable for the damage caused.
The vehicle was burnt Sunday after a rally held by ODM in Mathare area.
It was burnt after supporters accused the driver of hitting one of their own in the aftermath of the rally.
" Investigations are underway. We are looking for the culprits. If they are not found, we will go after the party to seek compensation," he told News24.

In a rejoinder, ODM chairman John Mbadi stated that Police should prosecute those it finds culpable.
" Police should take action. We do not condone hooliganism," he stated.
The rallies are expected to increase in volume as the August 2017 elections draw closer and Kiraithe stated that Police would be keen on such events in future to stop such incidences taking place again.
