Gor Mahia player to contest 2017 General Elections
05 January 2016, 16:02
Nairobi - Gor Mahia captain Jerim Onyango will contest an elective position in the 2017 General Elections, he has announced.
The long time Gor keeper will run for the position of Member of County Assemblies for Ugunja Ward come the elections.
He will likely do so on an Orange Democratic Movement ODM ticket.
" I will contest to serve the people of Ugunja Ward," he told News24.
" I am approaching the twilight of my football career and after serious thought and talk with a number of Ugunja residents, have felt that this is the right decision," he added.
Onyango did not pay allegiance to any part yet but hinted he would more likely lean towards ODM, which is led by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Onyango has found playing time at Gor hard to come by after being displaced by Boniface Oluoch.
