Fuel tanker rams into matatu at Salgaa, killing 7

Nakuru - Seven people perished and six others left with serious injuries after a fuel tanker rammed into a Nissan matatu at Ngata, a few meters from the Salgaa black spot Sunday night.
The Nissan matatu which belongs to North Rift sacco was en route to Eldoret from Nakuru while the tanker was heading to the opposite direction.
According to traffic police commander, Mary Omar the accident occurred after the tanker deviated from its lane.

The driver of the matatu was among the seven people who died on the spot.
The injured were rushed to Nakuru Provincial General Hospital where they are still recuperating.
The late night accident is said to have caused a huge traffic jam along the busy highway.
Early last month, local resident held a peaceful demonstration demanding more speed bumps to be erected on the busy highway to prevent accidents.
