Former teacher killed, naked body dumped on the roadside

05 April 2016, 16:32 Joseph Njung'eh

Murang'a - Somber mood has engulfed residents of Ngoeini village in Kangema, Murang’a County after the body of a former teacher was found dumped on the roadside.

The naked body of Jacob Maina, 64, was found near Kanyenyaini Catholic church by residents who were on their way to work.

Confirming the incident, Murang’a County police Commander, Naomi Ichami said the body had multiple injuries on the head, neck, stomach and chest inflicted with a blunt object.

“The marks identified around the man's neck shows he was strangled before being hit with a blunt object several times,” said Ichami.

She said the body was taken to Kiriani Mission Hospital mortuary for postmortem and declined to give more details.

“My officers are on the ground trying to pursue any link that can lead us to the murderer. We cannot divulge more details at the moment as we are awaiting the autopsy report,” added Ichami.

She appealed to residents to volunteer information than can help in tracing those behind the killing.
