Former President, Daniel Moi's grandson arraigned on phone theft charges

Nakuru - Former President, Daniel Moi's grandson shocked a Nakuru court on Wednesday when he was arraigned and charged for allegedly stealing his daughter‘s phone.
Collins Toroitich Moi is said to have stolen two mobile phones including his daughter’s while they were having dinner around Showground area within Nakuru County.
According to police documents, Moi had invited Mary Chelimo and Betty Chebet for a dinner on July 14 where he forcefully grabbed their two mobile phones all valued at KES 200,000 and refused to give them back.

Moi however claimed through his lawyer Ochang Ajigo that the whole incident was a misunderstanding and was a plot by his ex-girlfriend to taint the former President's family name adding that he cannot steal something he can afford.
“One of the complainants in the case is his daughter and there is no way my client can steal from his daughter,” said the lawyer.
Chief Magistrate David Kemei in his ruling gave the complainants options of settling the matter out of court.
